Although we enjoy teaching group classes, our love and specialty is working on behavior consultations and private training in a one-on-one setting. Our training and behavior modification philosophy includes positive, reward-based training methods that are fun and effective for both you and your dog. We adhere to the practice of using science-backed, humane methods when working to change any behavior and only use tools and practices that are dog-friendly and safe, meaning we will never use fear, force, pain, alpha rolls, choke, prong, or shock collars to train you and your dog. You will find as many training styles as you will trainers so before you hire someone to work with you and your dog, please do your research.
Behavior modification sessions are held with Whitney Thurston, one of Maine’s few Certified Dog Behavior Consultants through the IAABC. Whitney specializes in helping those dealing with aggression, fear, anxiety, and/or reactivity. With this type of training we would typically start with a consultation. This would include a history taking and behavioral assessment as well as a written plan and protocol. Whitney will discuss what is going on with your dog, as well as explain and show you how to change their behavior through both management and training. We currently offer behavior consultations and follow up sessions both in person and online.
Initial Consult Cost is $140 for a 60-90 session that includes full notes on how to implement strategies discussed and a plan for further training. Travel to your home is possible, potentially with an additional cost. SIGN UP HERE
