DOGSPEAK
Understanding Canine Body Language
Sunday, September 25th at 1:00pm

Your dog is constantly communicating with you–but you are paying attention to what they’re saying? The ability to read your dogs body language is the most important skill for keeping your dog happy and safe. In this seminar, we’ll show you how to recognize what a dog looks like when she’s happy, anxious, relaxed, or worried, as well as warning signs that most people miss before fights and bites.

This is a FREE humans-only seminar space is limited so registration here is required. This seminar will also serve as fundraiser for the Bucksport Animal Shelter. We will be collecting donations of cash or food at the door. The seminar will be held at 72 Main Street in Bucksport.

Presentation by Whitney Thurston, local dog trainer and owner of Salty Dogs Obedience, Whitney specializes in working with fearful and reactive dogs, and is very passionate about building a community in Downeast Maine well behaved, socialized dogs, and educated, empowered owners.

CANINE MYTHBUSTING
Sunday, October 23rd at 1:00pm

Common canine myths, dispelled! Are you worried your dog is trying to dominate you? Have you wondered if some breeds are smarter than others or if different breeds need different types of training? Worried that you shouldn’t play tug of war with your pup or that you shouldn’t use food to train because then your dog will never listen to you without it? Have any other burning questions about your dog and their [stubborn, weird, crazy, guilty] behavior?

Join us for some good, old fashioned myth-busting–we’ll talk about these and other controversial topics in the dog world and and help you get a better understanding of how dogs think, what they want, and how to co-exist with them in your homes and on your beds (yes, on your bed!)
